Gary Lockwood (também conhecido como Freehand Profit) é um obcecado por arte, sneakers e hip-hop. Há uns anos encontrou um maneira de combinar suas paixões. Uma maneira um pouco inusitada (que causou polêmica, também), algo difícil de entender. Eu mesmo, ainda não sei se gosto ou não. Acho o resultado ótimo e interessante, mas sofro com o processo. De qualquer forma, acho que vale o registro.

Lockwood, junta tudo o que destrói e transforma em máscaras. Lindas e interessantes. Ou seja, transforma produtos comuns (ou nem sempre, como podemos ver no vídeo abaixo) em máscaras ultra-colecionáveis e mega-desejáveis. O que é muito inteligente, claro.

O artista começou a recortar, re-costurar e colar pedaços de sneakers em máscaras de proteção de gás transformando-as em obras coloridas, ornamentadas e desejadas. É uma mistura de super-herói, com samurais intergalácticos e uniformes de robôs japoneses e etc…

A sua arte virou negócio de gente grande. Do gueto invadiu o mainstream. Dos amigos para clientes VIPs à colaborações com empresas e marcas desejadas como Nike, Versace e adidas.
